Does this look likes time to replace the ignition key switch? 700 1991

I have currently a '93 945 and a '92 745 with the same--the biggest problem is that the alternator will not begin charging without the dash charge light "signal". I have rigged a wire with a bulb between the battery + and the alternator red wire post thus fooling the alternator into charging. The problem, however, I understand is the instrument cluster circuit board which is supposed to be cracked in places which causes the intermitent symptoms--not the ign. switch. I haven't attempted the repair yet. Keep posting with progress report.
