940 Exhaust Header Pipes - Technical Question 900

Dear Fellow Brickboaders,

May this find you well. What are the differences - in dimensions, fastener number/location, sensor opening number/location, etc. - between a header pipe that will fit a car with Bosch fuel/ignition management and a header pipe that will fit a car with Rex/Regina fuel/ignition management?

Volvo VADIS - the now-superseded dealer parts/maintenance database - shows different part numbers. Yet, some aftermarket suppliers claim "one pipe fits both", while others have a header pipe specific to each fuel/ignition management system.

I'd guess the only way to answer this, is to lay the two pipe types next to each other.

It is not obvious to me, why the fuel/ignition management system would require any difference in a header pipe, when the basic engine is the same.

I hope to have the benefit of your insights.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
