Cold engine stalls when giving gas. OK when warm 900

The car is a 240, but same bosch ingnition system. I am looking for more ideas here in the 900 forum. This is a puzzle.
When I start form cold, the car struggles to start. I have to keep cranking continuously until it starts. Then once the engine starts, it hesitates when pushing on the gas and stalls. It will only go if I push the gas very gently. Later when the car is warmed up the hesitation goes away. Any ideas?
