740 Regina codes and oddness? LONG post 700

Definitely replace the crank sensor.

It also sounds like it's running very rich. I'd check the fuel pressure regulator, MAP sensor, and coolant temp sensor. That the problem occurs at start up and a idle, but not on the highway, makes me think that the O2 sensor is OK.

Fuel Pressure Reg: check for fuel in the vac hose. A non-turbo LH 2.4 Regulator works just fine with Regina. Dirt Cheap, too.

Coolant sensor can be tested with an Ohmmeter.

The MAP sensor is a dirt cheap GM part and used on early-90's V6 cars. Check the FAQ for the Delco number.
