Oxygen sensor swap 200 1990

I found a good O2 sensor in the PNP (= the MAN'S Mall) but the wires are too short for the 90 245.
Could I just cut and splice the wires so that I use the PNP sensor with the car's original wires?
Would it work to give the same values as a universal sensor that is designed to be spliced in?
