Okay so my anxiety is running haywire right now. My beautiful fiancee has a 1991 244 with 258K on it. We bought it in June and have put 10K on it. When we got it, I knew it had a piston slap but tonight I noticed a very disasterous sound coming from the engine. I opened the hood, took a long screwdriver to use as a stethoscope and to my horror, I heard horrific noise coming from the engine. I think something happened to the camshaft as that's what is the loudest as I checked the bottom end of the engine and it was quieter.
I uploaded a video of the sound...The sound quality isn't the best but you can definitely decipher this awful sound. I know some people don't like me too much on here but please understand, this isn't for me....This is for my fiancee so she can get to cosmetology school and back so she can have a better life. My tools are at my shop right now so I don't have the proper tools to figure out what it is perfectly and I'm not going to pull the cam cover off tonight as I need to bring it to my shop. I just need you guys's opinions on what this sound could be so I can anticipate what I'm going to be getting into when I take the cover off at work tomorrow.
