960 rear axle shaft 900 1997

I have a 97 960 with the multi-link rear axle and I feel like I'm the only one ever to have this problem because I find nothing posted anywhere.

The right rear axle shaft is making noise and upon inspection, has a lot of play going in and out of the rear differential. I opened it up this weekend to inspect and found I don't see how to pull this from the differential. I'm beginning to think I have to drop the entire rear end to get at it. I also don't want to purchase the part until I know what I'm doing. Any advice/ info would be appreciated.
