Door lock is "locked' with the door open!

What I think you are asking is how to get the little latch arm on the door into the open position so it will grab the latch pin when you shut the door.

The door latch works by dropping an arm over a pin on the door frame. Open the door and stick a phillips screw driver in where the pin would sit, lift up on the door handle, and 'open' the door (or pull the screw driver out to flip up the arm.
