Advice on replacing wiper switch/stalk 900 1995

Good evening Gentlemen
As some of you may know, I was having problems with my wipers so I bought a new switch /stalk, as the general consensus was that that was the problem. Got an original Volvo part from my local Volvo dealer. Not a bad price I thought, at £52 (about $80) inc taxes for a genuine Volvo part. I had found some used ones which with shipping would have been £25 so I figured best to be safe and get a new one.
Anyway, is there anything I need to be careful of when I replace it? Any tips or things to watch out for? I think I need to disconnect the battery so the airbag doesn't go off? Its not till you start doing one of these jobs you realise there may be some trick or other that you should have known about.

Anye advice/tips from the Maestros would be appreciated before I begin.
Thanks all.
Pete
