1997 S90 3rd brake light S90-V90

Hello for 2010,

I recently purchased an S90 and the upper brake light, as the thing in the rear window is referred to, is loose. I cannot push the plastic housing back (toward the window) far enough to get the housing to click into the retainer bracket. I have been meticulously careful to line everything up and it does slide up to the glass without a problem but it does not snap into place. Does the retainer bracket move as to be adjusted? Would that be accessible from the trunk? Any other advice?
