Windshield Replacement 700 1988

Hello. 1988 740GL wagon. Thanks to trucks all about me other day I now have a crack in middle of my windshield. Not horrible(yet)but will have to be replaced before inspection(June this year). I am not going to do replacement myself. I will call a service that comes to you and does it in front of your house. Questions I have are : Should I wait for warmer weather to have this done as maybe the adhesive/caulking they use will work better in warmer temperature ? Any brand or type of glass better then another ? Any other pointers or ideas as to when I place the order or what to watch for when watching them do job ? Thanks much.
