Engine just gave up the ghost! Help! 120-130

If you can't afford to have the car off the road for a month or so and finances are limited, yes, you will have to find a running engine. I'd suspect you could find a very good runner for $500. Provided you don't have to have it shipped from somewhere or can pick it up with relative ease.

As for rebuilding your own, it is a very rewarding experience for the novice.
I think a full rebuild would run in the area of $1500 - $2000 when you factor in machining, head work, new parts, unknowns etc.
