120-130 Heater Control Repair

A cheap and easy repair for the heater control valve is to simply replace the heat sensing portion with the capillary tube with one from a 200 series car. These are plentiful in the junk yards for about $12. Of course the hardest part is getting it out of the 240.
If you look at the backing plates on the two heater valves you will see that they are nearly identical.
If your current valve is leaking it will need to be repaired first:

To change the sensing portion: straighten the 4 tabs that attach the capillary and regulator, disconnect the clip that attaches the regulator to the plunger (do the same on both controls) then reverse the procedure to assemble the "new" valve.

To install in your Amazon you will need to cut the loop off the end of the temp cable and run the wire through the cable stop that is part of the 240 system (better because it is adjustable).
