opinions needed! Trade my 940T for a 740 16V stick????

I have the oppurtunity to trade my 92 944 Turbo for a 91 745 with 16v engine and stick shift. I have always loved driving a manual shift wagon ever since I had my old audi 200. Is the 16V engine (interference type) that much more of a pita than my B230FT (which I love). The rest of the car appears good with only 150K on the clock. My 944T has 110K. Is the performance almost as good with the 16V and stick? I don't stand on it much, but its nice to be able to pass a slow car with when I want to. any opinions would be appreciated.
