270K, that's 20K in just under a year! 200 1986

Looked down at the odometer today and realized Inga (86 245DL 270K Auto) had just rolled past 270K. She rolled past 250K last February 13th with a full sized IKEA couch still in box inside her back on the way to Forth Worth to pick up a surprise Valentines Day gift for my wife of 29 years.

In the last year and 20K there was only one irritating problem and that was the replacement of the Neutral Safety switch to get rid of that pesky no start problem that haunted me for over a year.

Did replace the rear brakes and rotors, and all the bushings in the rear of the car with a poly set. Also added heavy duty springs and an old factory trailer hitch.

Moved the radio from top to bottom and added an old Turbo bezel and filled it with new VDO gauges. Have a Voltmeter, Transmission Temp gauge, PSI Oil Pressure gauge, and a Ambient Temp gauge in Degrees F. Added two new Kenwood speakers to the front door just last month so now you can crank up the Sony Radio really loud (and turn it back down). Did Dave Shannon's Kick Butt Lighting Mod, and added an external voltage regulator that solved the voltage drop problem when you restarted the car after the engine warmed up.

Only have one issue right now, have to replace the kick down cable. Right now there is a crimped in J B Weld covered bandaid doing the job. But that is the only real issue going on (crossing my fingers)

Looking at the lists of problems I wrote up every few months starting in 2006, every single problem or upgrade has been done with one exception. That is adding Ecode headlights and I think I may just reward myself a set of those in the next couple of months. You know the passengers side is getting scratched up and the side lens is looking really rough and cracked up. I really need to replace those, might as well do both sides right?

Without the write ups and how to posts from the BB there is no way I could have driven 20K in a car going on 24 years old in less that 365 days. I had never even done a brake job until four or five years back, it was the blower motor replacement that really started me to working on Inga myself.

Thanks for all you posts and help!

Regards,

Paul
