Servicing 240 flametrap 200 1990

What are the potential pitfalls of servicing/replacing the flame trap? i've got a 1990 240 where access is easier. From what i've read on the board (and what i've seen on my car) the parts can be pretty brittle. So, as long as I have replacement hoses/parts from FCP, is there anything in particular to watch out for when changing/cleaning this up? I have a feeling mine may be clogged due to some seepage at some of the seals.
