TURBO BOGGING BLUES 700 1988

1988 Volvo 760 Turbowagon with 2.3 litre engine.

The engine only operates 'normally' with no boost (up to 1/16" left of

center) and only boosts 'normally' at 60 to 80 km/hr (3000 to 4000 rpm)

in over drive. Invoking boost at any other time will cause it to bogg

and quit unless I back-off. It starts and idles flawlessly.

I have replaced the catalytic convertor + oxygen sensor, both forwarding

and pressurizing fuel pumps, air mass sensor (from a 1990 non turbo

sedan) and gas pressure regulator. My problems started when I replaced

the turbo and exhaust manifold with a second hand unit from Swedish

Motors in Toronto.

The waste gate is free and overboost regulator appears to move when I

pressurize it.

Is this a fuel/air mixture problem caused by miss-matched components?
