That way we'd know if one of us was close enough to give you a hand.

The Fuel relay probably just has a ground wire added [to circumvent the failing grounding control from the ECU]. It can be re-modified to act safely like it should by adding another relay and 3 wires. But that's not apt to be in the dealer's book.

Other than that, your ECU has no other "known" failure mode, regardless of what you may have heard. Either way it's not affecting your mileage. That's a separate issue.
