Massive oil leak---front seals? 200 1990

Oil is dripping pretty rapidly from front dead center of engine. From underneath, can see a trickle exiting directly below the harmonic balancer. In searching, it seems the likely culprit is front seals.

Before I start taking anything apart, wanted to ask a couple of questions, and check a couple of things.

First, is this the likely diagnosis? I have never changed a timing belt myself, so am pretty green...I have Bentley's manual, but always like to ask here first.

Once removing the timing belt cover, would it be likely to see if indeed the seals are the culprit, or would I need to remove the pulleys to be sure, and consequently not be able to run the engine to see the leak(s) in action?

Lastly, (for now) Bentley's mentions special tools...I will search for the rope trick mentioned elsewhere, but the other tools....5034, 5283 and 5025...????

I did clean out the flame trap about a year ago, and timing belt and tensioner were replaced this summer by my mechanic, if that means anything.

Oh, and if by chance there is a nice writeup, like one of Art's with photos, please point me in that direction. Thanks in advance.
