Tailgate hinge rehab, questions: putty, wiring... 200 1989

Does anyone know what type and where I can find more of the hard white putty that is used in the tailgate hinges? I seem to find it between the two layers of sheet metal (actual roof and then the brackets that the hinge bolts pass through. I've noticed that over time, the weight of the tailgate does cause depressions in the roof metal. That seems to be the cause of one of my hinges cutting into the roof (i'll try to take some pictures). I wonder if the putty might help fortify the area. At least it will help with waterproofing...

Second, anyone know offhand which color wire goes to which accessory in the left hand tailgate harness?

Jason
