If you have the 0 280 000 503 it is very failure prone and manifests a "failure to adjust mixture" which is consistent with your condition. The 0 280 000 510 is a better ECU, identical application, in any 83-84 non-turbo 240. try cobwebparts on Ebay, he might have one. Or visit salvage yards and take a chance. They used to be common, but some were the reason the car was junked.
