wet start? 200 1992

My 92 240 will not start when it is wet out(rain or snow). I used a hair dryer on the left side engine compartment and after 3 hours it started but it was hard. The engine turns over but wont fire. I noticed that the coil has a spark now when trying to start it. I put the dryer on it and it started right up. Does this mean it should be replaced or is there some other reason? Are there other parts associated with the coil that should be replaced also? My hood has a bad hinge on the driver's side which allows a gap on that side of the engine.
