Low Battery Issue 900 1996

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who chimed in about my question on the timing marks, and when I am ready to do it, it'll be no problem. I am having to leave the car sit for a while. I will be out of town for about 6 months this week. A question...

I noticed that when I tried to start the car on Saturday afternoon, it would barely turn over. Really slow, but it finally did. The car sat unused for about two weeks so far. The battery is about 2 years old. After a few minutes, I turned the car off and tried to restart. It was fine then. I'm trying to think of all the items that draw power when it is just sitting here unused. Clock, factory alarm, and radio constant are the only things I could think of.

I finally just disconnected the battery altogether. Other than the radio security code, which I have, I don't think anything else will be lost, other than setting the dash clock.

Maybe the battery is just starting to go bad, any ideas? The last time I checked the battery, it was 13.5 VDC running with a full load, and 12.8 VDC off.

There is some evidence of outgassing, as the top of the battery is damp with liquid, but not excessively so.

Dave
