Transmission not shifting into overdrive - Indicator light on 900 1995

I have a 1995 940 (Not a turbo) with the 2.3 L engine and automatic transmission with over drive.

The overdrive indicator (an orange arrow) on the dash is lit indicating that it is not in overdrive. For a while this did not seem to make any difference as the transmission still seemed to shift normally and pressing the button on the back of the shift selector would make the light turn out

Today my wife informed me that, while she was on the highway driving at 60 MPH, the tachometer read 4000 and pushing the button did not shift it into overdrive. I told her to keep the speed to 60 or under and that she would not get good mileage. The red line is at 6000.

Any suggestions would be appreciated
