Speaker Grill Fix?? Design Brilliance Needed 900

The front door speaker grills are a dumb design: they not only cover the speakers but also have flimsy plastic tabs on the back to secure the door panel in place on the posts. The net result over many door closings is broken tabs. Does anyone have a good workaround for this? I considered adding some very thin metal U-shaped washers between the post and door panel to take up the stress. Any other ideas?
