230k miles and going strong - but not without challenges - e.g., coolant in my transmission fluid 700 1991

I had water in my transmission (not from a leak, but from having the car submerged!) and I eventually had to flush 24 quarts to get the fluid clean. I did 8, was satisfied with a clear pink colour. A week or two later I couldn't shift 1-2 and found the fluid to be milky again. During the next flush I was more thorough - drained the pan at the beginning and end, shifted gears while draining the fluid out, and added a strong magnet to the pain in case anything was rust damaged and floating around. The trans didn't act normal right away, but after a few miles everything worked like new!
