I am writing this as a public service, based on my experience a few months back with a sticking throttle linkage on my 1967 222S. This is probably a bit of maintenance everyone should do at least once per decade. A LHD setup is described. Brit readers, apply parity operator.

The gas pedal is linked to a cross rod that traverses above the transmission tunnel next to the firewall. The horizontal piece is about 30 cm long. At the front of the passenger's footwell, the linkage bends up and passes through a hole in the firewall, where it connects to the rods and bellcranks which open the mighty SUs.

The problem I had was where the horizontal rod is confined to the firewall with a long U shaped clamp. This assembly had rusted, due to a leaky windshield. So, fix that windshield, or do as I do, and pull back the insulating mat in the front of the passenger's footwell, dripping some oil onto the gas linkage rod where it enters the U clamp, and work it in by moving the throttle.

By the way, remove the floor drain plug so the water from your windshield leak has somewhere to go.
