940T heater core leaking-should I "Bars-Leak' it? 900

My '94 940T's heater core is definitely leaking. A friend said try one can of the "black(ish) Bars Leak". Is this worth doing? I currently have a black coolant cap rated at 150 kPa-would switching to a 75 kPa cap plus the Bars Leak treatment fix this? Or should I just bite the bullet and prepare for major car surgery? Currently, I've bypassed the heater so it's not leaking into my driver's side carpet anymore.
