Essentially, there's only one manufacturer that I'm aware of that is best avoided: Scantech. In all my years of browsing these forums, I have never once heard someone yell out (or even whisper) praise for a Scantech part. Every single utterance of their name is usually followed by a horror story or preceded by some profanity.
I can even add two of my own to the list:
1. I ordered a couple of suspension parts and was "incorrectly" shipped the cheaper Scantech part. Given my rush, I was not in the place to wait for replacement parts to ship before getting the car on the road, so I installed it. A simple swaybar end link. Simple enough, right? Not more than three weeks later, the link is deforming and cracking under the stress is daily driving, and an attempt to remove the part results in it breaking from the torque of my wrench alone.
2. Scantech bushings and springs. With the bushings, never have I seen a part so ill-fit straight from the manufacturer. I had to make significant modifications for one set to even remotely seat, and had another unmodified pair fail within months. Within a year, the Scantech springs I purchased were sagging even lower than the aging factory springs they replaced. Out the Scantech junk went, in with IPD and OEM parts.
I suppose it's good that they are at least consistent. "Scantech. Never again."
