91 740 dies at spped 700 1991

Hello. I have a 91 740 w/ 260 k on it. Car runs fine except it will die while running at highway speeds. It simply shuts itself off. It does not miss, spit or sputter. It did it to me 4 times this afternoon during a 35 mile trip home from work. Usually, i pull over, put car in park. and turn key off, & it restarts immediately & runs fine until it does it again. The car seemed not to do this near as much in cold weather, but was in 70's today. Last summer & fall some days after work, over 10 hours, it took it more than 30 minutes to start on several occasions. Other than this, the car runs great, still getting 22 mpg w/ no oil consumption. PLEASE help before it dies & i can't get out of in front of a diesel truck!! Thanks
Steve
