91 740 dies at speed 700 1991

I would agree with B.B. that the usual suspects should be looked into. The fuel injection relay is in the tray under the ashtray and the radio suppression relay (if it is a turbo, not sure where it is on N/A cars)is here:

Similiar symptoms to yours on a 1994 944T turned out to be the power stage which is mounted on the drivers side inner fender.

All of these items are most easily chased by simply swapping out the component with one that is known to be good. The relays are easy to open and reflow the solder joints on the circuit boards. Many people carry spares in the glovebox; Bosch relays are know to suffer from cracked solder joints over time.
