Leaking rack- long distance trip imperative; what to do?

Hi Randy,

My first thought was recommend he rent a car. I didn't say so because it sounds snotty, so I'll try to disguise the snot.

That thought comes from my known inability to thoroughly understand a third party's individual consideration. Though obvious as a choice, I have to try to put myself in the position of someone who can afford to depend on a 20-year old car of any make being serviced by a professional. In doing that, I have to discount my confidence in being able to make roadside adjustments that would seem to threaten the outcome of the important need to travel.

Then, to add to my lack of qualification, I never had to drive a car with a leaky rack.

Thanks for your opinions.
