Lost power to Climate Control Unit (MCC); fuses fine 900

My Climate Control suddenly died. I verified that the fuses are fine and power to the fan switch is coming off the fuse box fine as well.

I decided to take short cut and just run another wire from the fuse box to the MCC fan switch rather than trace the connection from the fuze because it snakes behind the dash and it looks like a nasty job.

Running a new wire to the fan switch worked fine - but only for the fan. The AC and Temperature controls still don't work. Examining the wiring diagram i found that power is supplied from the alternator for those. I get no voltage (tested AC and DC) on the alternator supply wire.

Question:
1) Seems like a connector got disconnected somewhere. Any experience tracing those wires behind the dash? Are they easy to get to? What's the procedure.

2) The alternator power supply wire: Is this supposed to be 12V DC or is AC ? How do I properly test.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks - Andy
