driveline 120-130 1966

My 66, 122 has a worn u-joint, the rear one, and the carrier-bearing rubber grommets are worn out. So I have interesting palpitations in first gear. I have bought some new u-joints, a carrier bearing, a pair of rubber grommets, and seals for the transmission and the differential. In the green book mine is identified as a "Type II". Any advice before I pull the driveline?

A question that comes to mind is, what is the most direct way to get it out of the car? There are lots of things to take apart...which ones do I need to do while lying in gravel? Also, have people done this at home or taken it to a machine shop? Thanks for any help.
