Sick Brick 700

Just replaced the cat on my 92 740 wagon with Regina FI. As per previous post, I am waiting for a new O2 sensor and driving without one right now. I have only driven short distances for 2 days and it seemed to drive OK. Today, after only 2km it went sick, as if in "get home mode". If I stop the engine and restart it, it goes normal for a short distance, then sick again, and so on. Got home and the cat was VERY HOT.
What could be the problem?
