How to fix squeaky fan belts? 200

I've tried a couple of brands of spray-on belt dressings and they don't work. A day or two later the squeaking is back. It has actually made it worse. I used to get some black stuff that came in a tube, (for another car), but everything seems to be spray on, which makes it more difficult to apply, not easier. (And it doesn't work.)

I've tried rubbing a bar of soap on the belts. It works well for a while. Access to the running belts on this car is kind of scary, though.

There must be something I'm missing. I'd really appreciate some advice on this,

Thanks,
Steve
