REPLACE HEAD GASKET ON A 1993 940 WAGON

One more thought, if you have a decent relationship with the shop you are talking to. Go tell them you want to try to do it yourself, and ask if they will bale you out if you get in over your head. Some shops don’t want a job that someone else started, but if they agree ahead of time it should be okay.

However, if it takes you 4 hours to get the intake and exhaust manifolds off, don’t expect some big discount because a well equipped shop will have the head in the back of the pick up truck and on the way to the machine shop in about an hour.
