is replacing the ECU that simple? 200 1983

Got a used ECU on eBay. I'm just going to replace the old one instead of trying to test it. I looked in all three of the known-to-me 240 manuals, and they all had all kiiiinds of info on testing, but nothing on replacing the ECU, except to say that the ignition had to be off when removing or installing it, and to be "extremely careful" when unplugging it. Not even any explanation of what you're supposed to be careful about.

I am afraid of electronic stuff :) Always hear about making sure they don't get static-shocked and all kinds of things, and it seems like it just couldn't be so easy as un-plugging and re-plugging... Is it?
