Automatic tranny swap 200

In my search for a 245 wagon, I've stumbled across an '81 GLT without the turbo. It's a 2 owner with only 130000 miles and has been sitting for 17 years. Yes, that's no misprint, 17 years. I had one years ago and it was fantastic. Trouble is it has an automatic which is a 3 speed, I presume a BW35. Would it be hard to put an AW71 in it? I'd rather put an M41 or M46 in it but that's beyond my skill set and probably pretty expensive. I really want to bring this '81 back to life but not with a final drive of 1:1. It is completely rust free and the interior is in very good shape. Thanks
Jim
