Power Steering (or lack of) 200 1990

Hi,
Got a 240 DL Wagon. 1990. Truly a great car that we want, very much, to hold onto forever.
Power steering's shot after it's been sitting, say, overnight. Once it gets goin', it's fine. But to get it out of it's parking spot, here in NYC, can require some serious steering and...well...let's just say that it's easier sometimes than others.
There used to be a great Volvo repair guy around here...but he's since passed on. And I could take it to the official Volvo dealer repair shop...but want to be sure what I'm asking for before I do that.
(aka: ka-CHING)
Hoping for some direction here. I'm a handyman but not a mechanic...so, even if I know what it might be, I'm wondering if it can be repaired easily? If not...what's' involved, in terms of parts availability and cost.
Thanks for your time,
Bob
