That is how the car came to me. I thought it would be nice to put the PCV valve back on, keeping the air cleaner cleaner. With the hose routed to atmosphere, I will need to plug the outlet to the air cleaner so that it doesn't draw air from the vented filler cap.

This extra pressure also explains why the RMS is leaking more than ever also. I know, I need to replace the RMS, but I have never taken a tranny off before. And this one has an overdrive attached to it.

Could a ring or 2 be stuck? Remember, C.A. didn't drive this wagon much the last few years. Marvel Mystery Oil might be called for.
