Did I screw it up? 200

I'm in the middle of replacing my rear brakes on my 92-240. I bought the official Volvo brakes from FCP. The brake pads had a shim glued on to the brake pad, it was a sheet-metal shim coated with a layer of plastic/rubber. I simply put the new pad. But I'm thinking that I need to reuse the plain sheet metal shim from the old brake pads also - the instructions kind-of hint at this. The old ones had two shims on each pad, a plastic coated one and and extra one was plain sheet metal shim. But I don't know why the new breaks didn't have one, the ones I got before seem to have all the parts. Could this be an new design that doesn't need the old piece? Any ideas?
