1988 760 GLE V-6 700 1988

After 250,000 miles my engine has developed an ignition misfire.
With the engine running I can hear the arcing in the new distributor cap (with a new rotor and wires),
but I don't see any sparks (while viewed at night) and there is a noticeable stumble in the idle when this occurs.
Also in the last 2 seasons one electrode on the cap turns corroded???

Any body seen this before and how do I stop the arcing... WD-40 in the cap????

Thanks for your help,
Peter Carbone
