86 volvo 245 charge problem 200

I have 1986 volvo 245 with M46 tranny.

Last month the battery exhausted twice and I replaced the five years old battery with new one.

But last week the car can not be started due to the exhausted battery again.
I charged the battery over night and next day the car start normal.
This may cause by the alternator can not keep charging the battery.

Also I notice there is no battery light on the dash board when I turned the key to radio position(see picture)
I remeber there is picture or artical show you how to check the alternator step by step under the car. I just can not find it .

Did some one experience this before? Thanks for any input.
