Air Conditioning Makes Rattling Noise .......... 700 1988

1988 740 GLE wagon. Converted to R134A in 2000. Checked and serviced 3 years ago when I first got this car. It was deemed fine and just needed a few ounzes of refrigerant. Indeed has been blowing cold and working fine past 3 Summers. We had a hot streak earlier this week here in New Jersey. First time I turned on AC since end of last Summer. There was a rattling noise from compressor for a few minutes. After it went away in a few minutes it still made a rattling noise for a second or so every minute or so. Did this for a 45 minute ride. I confess total ignorance of AC system. Is there anything I can oil/lubricate ? If so where and with what type oil ? Or maybe does oil need to be added to refrigerant mixture ? Thanks in advance for replys, advice, and your input on this.
