ODD SOCKET ON ALTERNATOR 200

ON MY '87 244 N/A......

GOT THE OLD 'DIM GLOWING ACROSS THE BOARD' IDIOT LIGHTS THE OTHER MORNING ON STARTUP, SO I REDLINED IT AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE BACKUP '83 245......

THE MONSOON FINALLY LET UP FOR A BIT TODAY, SO I POKED MY HEAD UNDER THE HOOD OF THE 87, TO SEE HOW BAD I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO CONTORT MY BODY TO SLIP A NEW VOLTAGE REGULATOR IN IT, ON THE CAR......

DOESN'T LOOK >TOO< BAD, BUT I SPOTTED AN ODD CONNECTION THAT I'VE NOT SEEN ON ANY OTHER BOSCHE ALTERNATORS I'VE LOOKED AT(ADMITTEDLY, NOT A WHOLE LOT....)

THE BOSCHE PLATE READS '0120 469 668'...........

THE PLUG I'M REFERRING TO, IS A RECESSED MALE PLUG, TWO ROUND PRONGS, ON THE BACK OF THE ALTERNATOR BODY....RIGHT NEXT TO THE REGULATOR.....WAS(IS) CAPPED BY RUBBER PLUGS, THAT JUST SLIP OVER THE PRONGS.........

ANY IDEAS WHAT IT'S FOR??????
