Replacing a motor 1988 740 turbo with a 1990 740 turbo questions ..Please help 700

I have bought a used turbo from a 740 1990 and am installing it in my 1988 740.

1. I notice that my old transmission will not accomodate the 1990 VSS/RPM sensor/flywheel
So I have to swap flywheels to accomodate the old style sensor in the bell housing. I don't see anything to trigger the sensor on the old flywheel .
will this work ? How does it work. I see no strips on the old flywheel to trigger the sensor ?

2. It seems that there are more sensors on the 1990 engine ?
and the turbo has different connections.

I don't really want to swap everything over as the old engine had sensor probs.

HELP !!!!!!

I am not sure how to proceed
