Hello....
Car info:
1987 760 Turbo Sedan 257,000
Day one:
My mother informed me that none of her windows work. While troubleshooting windows, I realized her electric seat doesn't work either.
What I tried: Swapped master window switch out w/known working one (used), Checked for broken wires, checked fuses. No go...
Today:
Arrived at mom's and started to troubleshoot windows again. The situation has gotten more complex. None of the windows work, heated seats & electric seats do not work, heater/air blower fan doesn't work, door warning bells do not go off, and the blinker keeps blowing a fuse. An interesting note: The electric side mirrors work.
What I tried: Researched forums.... attempted the ignition switch giggle, didn't work. I wanted to check the grounds except I am unsure as to where they are located. I purchased a new J relay, replaced it, and nothing. Just in case, I also swapped out the master switch again (with different known working part). I even tried all switches individually from the three master switches just in case what I thought was a working part was in fact not working.
Electrical work is not my forte!
Does anyone know where the grounds are located?
How do I check for current at the wires inside the drivers side door & the front passenger door(step by step idiot guide if you don't mind)?
A little background:
I replaced the driver seat frame (including motors & seat switch) towards the end of the summer in 2009, everything worked fine after install. Shortly after I replaced the stereo, all good to go after install. My mother is unsure as to when the seat stopped working. These are the only electrical repairs I have done. My mother has two known water leak issues: One is in the trunk and the other is the sunroof. I will be working on the sunroof replacement tomorrow. Any advice before the weekend comes to an end would be most appreciated!
Best Regards,
Anastasia
