96 960 evaporator leaking water into carpet 900

I've read the FAQ on this-not much on it. Nothing is coming out of the rubber drain through the firewall. Pulled hose off the drain in the plastic under the evaporator-and barely got it back on-still not sure if it's on right-jams against inside of firewall-anybody had to deal with this? Anyhow, I pushed something down into that rubber drain hose-and back through it from the firewall-not sure if it's clear, need to blow it out with compressed air. The water seems to be leaking from the other end of the evaporator "pan"-nearest the glovebox door. There's a water/mold stain in this area that shows water hitting there and running forward to the front of the footwell, where it seeps into the carpet. I have not been able to look at this area during the leak. Anyone have experience like this?
