R-sport rally gas shocks? 140-160

I'm trying to gather information about the R-sport gas shocks that were available to order from Volvo as rally upgrades. I know they were available on all 140's, part numbers 552189-3 for front, and 552190-1 for the rear. Could variants of these shocks also come on the 123GT and the 1800? Where all variants manufactured in France?

I'm wondering what the driving differences may be between said R-sports and a modern equivalent like Bilstein HD's. If I had the option, would considering a set of the R-sports on my 145 be wise over a set of Bilsteins? Has anyone had real world experience with the ride on these shocks, and perhaps their longevity?
